Seasonal Guide: When to Visit Blue Ridge
Every Season Has Its Magic
Blue Ridge is a year-round destination, but each season offers a completely different experience. Here's what to expect and how to make the most of your visit.
đ¸ Spring (March â May)
Wildflowers blanket the mountains. Waterfalls run at full force from spring rains. Temperatures are mild (55-75°F) and the trails are less crowded than fall. This is the best time for waterfall hikes and trout fishing.
âď¸ Summer (June â August)
Peak family season. Lake Blue Ridge and the Toccoa River offer tubing, kayaking, and swimming. Evenings are perfect for the hot tub â temps drop to the 60s after sunset. Book early â summer weekends fill up fast.
đ Fall (September â November)
The main event. Blue Ridge's fall foliage is legendary, with peak color typically mid-to-late October. The Scenic Railway runs special fall foliage excursions. Apple season at Mercier Orchards runs September through November. This is the most popular (and priciest) time to visit.
âď¸ Winter (December â February)
The hidden gem season. Cozy up by the fireplace, enjoy the hot tub under clear starry skies, and take advantage of the lowest rates of the year. Holiday markets in downtown Blue Ridge add festive charm. Occasional snow dustings make for magical mornings.
